Chris Hansen disputes accuracy of ‘Primetime’ film
The film ‘Primetime’, directed by Lance Oppenheim, explores the origins of the ‘To Catch a Predator’ segments on Dateline NBC. Starring Robert Pattinson as journalist Chris Hansen, the narrative follows the show’s rise and the pressures of moving to a primetime slot, which motivated producers to seek more ambitious cases.
While the film has seen box office success, Chris Hansen has criticized the production, describing it as a ‘complete work of fiction’. Hansen stated that while the film uses his name and certain catchphrases, the events, timelines, and personal relationships depicted are not truthful. He specifically addressed the film's portrayal of the circumstances surrounding the 2006 suicide of Louis William Conradt Jr., an assistant district attorney, and is reportedly considering legal action against the studio A24, claiming he was exploited.
