Chris Hansen disputes portrayal in A24 film ‘Primetime’

Chris Hansen has expressed reservations regarding the upcoming A24 film ‘Primetime’, which features Robert Pattinson playing a dramatized version of the journalist. Hansen declined to sign a non-disclosure agreement for a recent screening, citing concerns that it would prevent him from legally challenging how he is portrayed.

While Hansen described Pattinson’s performance as a “pretty good imitation” despite being overly dramatic, he maintains a distance from the production. He has requested that the film be labeled as “fiction” rather than “inspired by true events” to ensure audiences distinguish between the real person and the cinematic character. Hansen noted that the film also uses the names of his colleagues and family members.

The film is scheduled for a US theatrical release on September 25, 2026, following a premiere at the Venice International Film Festival.
