Chris Hemsworth survives lightning‑struck plane turbulence over Costa Rica

Actor Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky were on a family vacation in Costa Rica when the small plane they were flying in encountered a lightning storm and severe turbulence. Hemsworth recorded the incident in a YouTube vlog, describing the flight as "life‑threatening" and mouthing, “What the f—?” as lightning flashed around the aircraft and the cabin shook.

The plane landed safely, and the family continued their holiday activities, including surfing, ATV riding, cliff jumping, fishing and hiking to waterfalls. The incident followed Hemsworth’s earlier public disclosure that he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene, a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease, which prompted a temporary break from acting.
