Chris Holtmann extends DePaul basketball coaching contract through 2031

DePaul men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann has agreed to a contract extension that runs through the 2030-31 season. The agreement was announced by athletic director DeWayne Peevy.

Holtmann joined DePaul in March 2024 following a season where the Blue Demons went 3-29 overall and 0-20 in Big East play. Since taking over, the program has seen improvement, moving to a 14-20 overall record in his first year and reaching 16-16 last season.

Peevy stated that the extension reflects confidence in Holtmann’s ability to rebuild the program’s competitive foundation and national visibility. Holtmann, who has a career record of 281-207 over 15 seasons, previously coached at Gardner-Webb, Butler, and Ohio State.
