Chris Jones campaigns for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture

Chris Jones, the 65-year-old Democratic nominee for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, is conducting a unique campaign centered on water quality issues. To reach voters without a large television advertising budget, Jones recently completed a six-day, 100-mile kayak tour down the Des Moines River.

The campaign journey began in Emmetsburg and concluded in Des Moines, stopping at various trailheads, small-town bars, and park pavilions along the way. Jones, a retired scientist, stated that his decision to run for office stems from a sense of civic duty to address the changing state of Iowa’s water resources and the concerns of both rural and metropolitan communities.
