Chris Langham, The Thick of It actor, dies at 77
British actor and comedian Chris Langham has died at the age of 77 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. His death, reported via an obituary in The Times, occurred on June 24, 2026.
Langham was widely recognized for his role as cabinet minister Hugh Abbott in the satirical BBC series The Thick of It, for which he won a Bafta for Best Comedy Performance. However, his career was derailed in 2007 when he was convicted of downloading and possessing indecent images of children. He was initially sentenced to 10 months in prison, a term later reduced to six months on appeal.
Langham had previously maintained that the material was accessed as part of research for a character role, though police rejected this claim.
