Chris Pratt narrates new Vatican documentary on St. Peter's tomb
A trailer has been released for the documentary ‘Pétros ení: Discovering the Origins’, featuring actor Chris Pratt as a narrator and guide through the archaeological sites beneath St. Peter's Basilica. The film explores the history, excavations, and devotion surrounding the tomb of the Apostle Peter.
Directed by Paula Ortiz and written by Vatican media editorial director Andrea Tornielli, the documentary commemorates the 400th anniversary of the consecration of the current basilica. The film includes appearances by Pope Leo XIV, who appears in the final scenes to reflect on the significance of Peter's grave.
The documentary premiered at the Rome Film Festival. While the Pope was unable to attend the screening due to ongoing medical treatment following lung surgery and a cancer diagnosis, Pratt participated via video message. Pratt, who has spoken publicly about his return to the Catholic faith, described the basilica as a “special and holy place” and noted that the project helped him define his faith.
