Chris Pratt reflects on career transformation via Marvel casting
Actor Chris Pratt reflected on how being cast as Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe transformed his career. During an event honoring Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Pratt expressed gratitude to Feige and director James Gunn for seeing potential in him when he was primarily known for his comedic role as Andy Dwyer on ‘Parks and Recreation’.
Pratt noted that before joining the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise, he was viewed more as a comedic actor than an action star. He revealed that he had auditioned for Marvel multiple times previously, including unsuccessful attempts for roles in ‘Captain America’ and ‘Thor’, and admitted he had nearly stopped pursuing projects with the studio due to discouragement.
