Chris Rock persuaded Daniel Kaluuya to join ‘Misty Green’ cast

Director Chris Rock revealed that he had to personally persuade actor Daniel Kaluuya to join the cast of his new comedy-drama film, ‘Misty Green’. Rock noted that Kaluuya was ‘kind of retired’ and was the only cast member who required significant convincing to participate in the project.

Rock explained that the production operated on a relatively small budget of approximately $5 million, which made securing talent more challenging. While other stars like Adam Driver and Anna Kendrick joined the project readily, Rock had to visit Kaluuya at his hotel to pitch the role. Kaluuya will portray Jordan, the mentally ill brother of the lead character, Misty, played by Rosalind Eleazar.

The film follows Misty, a formerly successful actress facing financial difficulties after the death of her benefactor. Eleazar reportedly traveled from London to audition for the role, delivering a 40-minute performance that secured her the lead.
