Chris Rock’s ‘Misty Green’ explores the realities of Hollywood

Chris Rock’s new film, ‘Misty Green’, offers a noirish critique of modern-day Los Angeles and the pursuit of fame. The movie, which Rock wrote, directed, and stars in, portrays the city as a difficult environment for aspiring actors.

Rosalind Eleazar stars as the titular character, Misty Green, an Emmy-winning actress struggling to maintain her career due to personal struggles and the systemic issues of racism and sexism within Hollywood. Eleazar described the audition process for the role as ‘grueling’, involving multiple Zoom calls, self-tapes, and a chemistry read in Los Angeles.

The film features Topher Grace as Misty’s agent and includes various celebrity cameos and nods to industry figures.
