Chris Scott denies retirement rumors at Geelong Cats

Geelong Cats coach Chris Scott has denied rumors regarding his retirement, stating he intends to fulfill his current contract which runs through 2029. The clarification follows media speculation that the dual premiership coach might step down at the conclusion of the Cats’ current finals campaign.

Scott addressed the inquiries during a weekly media conference, noting that while certain aspects of senior coaching are difficult, he remains committed to the role. He described the challenges of the position as the ‘price of admission’ in the AFL.

Regarding team updates, Scott indicated that midfielder James Worpel may be unavailable for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury. The club is also considering the recall of Sam De Koning for their upcoming semi-final against Fremantle at Optus Stadium.
