Chris Sorensen, Firehouse Subs co-founder, dies at 65

Chris Sorensen, the co-founder of the American sandwich chain Firehouse Subs, has died at the age of 65. In 1994, Sorensen and his brother, Robin, established the company in their hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, starting with less than $100 in their bank accounts.

Before his career in the restaurant industry, Sorensen was a professional guitarist who performed with various musical acts. He also served as a firefighter and EMT for 10 years with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, following in the footsteps of his father.

Sorensen was known for his creative influence on the brand, specifically designing the custom murals in Firehouse Subs locations that depict fire and police service. He also served as the chain’s unofficial archivist, collecting historical artifacts to preserve the company's legacy.
