Chris Waller splits three-year-old campaign between Sydney and Melbourne
Trainer Chris Waller is splitting his three-year-old stable across Sydney and Melbourne to begin the new racing season.
In Sydney, the colt Central Europe is set to compete in The Rosebud at Rosehill. Despite being bred for longer distances, jockey James McDonald expressed confidence in the horse's ability to handle the 1100m sprint. Other Waller contenders for the Rosebud include Hidrix and Striking Alibi, though both face potential changes to their programs due to barrier draws and distance suitability.
In Melbourne, the colt Confederation has been sent to Caulfield to contest the Group 3 Vain Stakes. Waller noted that the decision to move the horse south was influenced by Confederation's previous struggles with the Rosehill track, where the colt had shown aggressive tendencies. Ben Melham is scheduled to ride Confederation in the upcoming race.
