Blizzard confirms ongoing support for Diablo IV after Diablo V announcement
Blizzard Entertainment has addressed player concerns regarding the future of Diablo IV following the announcement of Diablo V at BlizzCon 2026. Game Director Brent Gibson confirmed that Diablo IV will continue to receive seasonal updates and new content for years to come, even after the release of the fifth installment, which is currently targeted for spring 2029.
Gibson emphasized that the franchise operates as a living universe rather than a series of replaceable titles. He noted that Blizzard intends to support Diablo IV as long as the community remains active, mirroring the long-term support provided to Diablo II and Diablo III. Upcoming content for Diablo IV includes the introduction of the Amazon class in the first half of 2027.
Recent updates for Diablo IV have focused on the Season of Hell’s Legacy, which introduced the rebirth system and various technical fixes via patch 3.2.2 to address launch-day server issues and bugs. Additionally, Blizzard announced the Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection for Nintendo Switch 2, bundling the base game with the Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions.
