Chrissie Hynde celebrates 75th birthday
Rock musician Chrissie Hynde is celebrating her 75th birthday. Born in Akron, Ohio, in 1951, the singer, songwriter, and guitarist became a central figure in the British punk and new wave scenes after moving to London.
Hynde founded The Pretenders in 1978, leading the band through various lineup changes while maintaining her role as the primary creative force. The group achieved significant international success with hits such as ‘Brass in Pocket’, ‘Don’t Get Me Wrong’, and ‘Back on the Chain Gang’.
Her contributions to music were formally recognized in 2005 when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Throughout her career, she has remained a prominent figure in rock history through her work with The Pretenders, solo projects, and various musical collaborations.
