Christian Association of Nigeria holds ministers' conference in Taraba

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) concluded a three-day Ministers’ Conference in Jalingo, Taraba State, focused on the relationship between the church and the state. Under the theme “The Church and the State; Partners in God’s Plan in a Changing World,” leaders addressed social, economic, and security challenges facing the region.

Conference participants, including Rev. Dr. Philip Micah Dopah, called for peace, unity, and the rejection of tribalism and discrimination. Leaders emphasized that the church must act as a “voice of truth” and a “conscience of the nation” to help build a stronger Nigeria.

A communique issued by CAN Taraba State Chairman Rev. Fr. Williams P. Awoshiri and Bishop Innocent R. Solomon linked the state’s lack of development to persistent violent conflicts. The group urged believers to adopt the historic “Bishop’s Court approach” to resolve internal disputes rather than resorting to secular courts or violence. The conference also included the launch of a ten billion naira fund for the reconstruction of a 5,000-seat auditorium.
