Christian Bale opens foster care village in California

Actor Christian Bale has officially opened Together California, a foster care village located in Palmdale, California. The project, which Bale co-founded with Tim McCormick in 2022, is specifically designed to prevent siblings from being separated when they enter the foster care system.

The facility spans approximately 11,000 square feet and includes 12 fully furnished homes, along with two studio apartments intended to assist young adults transitioning to independent living. The initiative was funded through donations, including nearly $9 million raised by the Austrian American Council West, and reportedly includes a $22 million contribution from Bale.

Bale stated at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that the mission is to “turn their heartbreak and their pain into love and hope and a sense of future.” The project addresses a critical need in Los Angeles County, which holds the largest population of children in foster care in the United States, with over 30,000 children currently in the system. The first residents are expected to move into the complex next month.
