Christian Blex faces exclusion from AfD and removal as NRW treasurer

Christian Blex, a member of the state parliament and treasurer for the AfD in North Rhine-Westphalia, is facing exclusion from the party following a decision by the Federal Executive Board. Blex has already been removed from his position as state treasurer pending the final decision.

The exclusion proceedings are linked to an escalated party assembly in Marl this past July, where Blex is accused of intimidating or threatening delegates to secure votes for state leader Martin Vincentz. Additionally, the AfD youth organization 'Generation Deutschland' has filed complaints with federal party leaders Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla regarding alleged financial irregularities and suspicious bookings under Blex's management.

The situation highlights ongoing internal power struggles within the North Rhine-Westphalia AfD, which remains divided between supporters of the moderate state leader Vincentz and a 'patriotic camp' led by Bundestag member Matthias Helferich. A spokesperson for the state association noted that Blex intends to defend himself through standard legal or party procedures.
