Christian Blex performs at Salzburg Festival following Karajan Award win

Christian Blex, the winner of the 2025 Herbert von Karajan Young Conductors Award, performed at the Salzburg Festival with the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien. The award, organized by the Salzburg Festival and the Eliette and Herbert von Karajan Institute, is considered one of the most significant competitions for young conductors.

Blex’s program featured a mix of modern and romantic works, including Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s ‘Stille und Umkehr – Orchesterskizzen’ and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Manfred Symphony’. The performance, held at the Felsenreitschule alongside soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, served as the prize opportunity accompanying his 15,000 euro award. The concert is also scheduled for release on CD.
