Christian Brückner allegedly admits presence near Madeleine McCann disappearance site

Madeleine McCann Christian Brückner Praia da Luz missing person case Portugal

Christian Brückner, the primary suspect in the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann, has reportedly made new statements regarding his whereabouts on the night of the incident. According to reports citing the Daily Mail, Brückner claimed he was at a beach near the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz, Portugal, to sell drugs.

Brückner allegedly stated that he was smuggling cannabis from Spain into Portugal and was stopped by police three times while they were searching for the missing child. He claimed his van was full of drugs but that authorities did not find them at the time. This admission would place him approximately 137 to 150 meters from the holiday apartment where the three-year-old McCann vanished on May 3, 2007.

While German authorities, including the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor's Office, previously established that Brückner's mobile phone was in a cell near the Ocean Club on the night in question, he has not been formally charged and continues to deny involvement in the disappearance.
