Christian Burgess leaves Union Saint‑Gilloise after six seasons

English defender Christian Burgess posted an emotional farewell on Instagram after announcing his departure from Belgian club Union Saint‑Gilloise. In a lengthy post featuring 20 photos, he reflected on his six‑year spell that began with the club’s promotion from the second division, his debut in the Jupiler Pro League, two cup victories, a league title and 262 appearances. Burgess thanked the supporters for their “pyro shows” during the COVID‑19 period and praised the staff and teammates who helped him develop. Former and current teammates, including Cameron Puertas and Siebe Van der Heyden, responded with tributes. Rumours suggest he may join fellow Belgian side KAA Gent, though no official move has been confirmed.
