Christian Cueva to miss Sport Boys match against Juan Pablo II

Sport Boys midfielder Christian Cueva is expected to miss the upcoming match against Juan Pablo II in the 12th round of the 2026 Torneo Clausura. Although Cueva is currently on loan at Sport Boys, he is officially registered with Juan Pablo II, his parent club.

While a clause exists that would allow Sport Boys to pay a fee to enable his participation in the match, reports indicate that the club has decided not to trigger this option due to economic reasons. This absence comes at a critical time for the Callao-based team, which is seeking to recover points to stay in contention for a Copa Sudamericana qualification spot.

Coach Carlos Desio will have to find a replacement for the midfielder, who has been a regular starter this season, contributing one goal and two assists across eight appearances. The team is already dealing with other roster challenges, including the ongoing recovery of Nicolás Da Campo from injury.
