Christian Democrats move into opposition in Enköping and Dalarna
The Christian Democrats (KD) are preparing for roles in opposition following recent political shifts in Sweden. In Enköping, the party will not join the governing coalition for the 2026–2030 term, citing political barriers that prevented a center-right administration. KD intends to focus its opposition on climate strategies regarding car accessibility, elderly care quality, support for small businesses, and school choice.
In the Dalarna Region, a new governing coalition consisting of the Social Democrats, Centre Party, Democratic Party, and Left Party has been formed. Patrik Liljeglöd of the Left Party will serve as a regional councillor, taking on specific responsibility for culture and education. Meanwhile, Birgitta Sacrédeus of the Christian Democrats will remain a member of the council after a party vote determined she would not serve as the opposition councillor; Elin Åhman will serve as a temporary opposition councillor until March 31.
