Christian Gonzalez signs record $135M extension with Patriots

Christian Gonzalez has agreed to a record-breaking four-year, $135 million contract extension with the New England Patriots, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. The deal, which includes $102 million in guaranteed money, surpasses the previous mark set by Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who signed a $132 million extension in August.

The agreement follows months of protracted negotiations that had created uncertainty regarding Gonzalez's availability for the upcoming season. The extension is structured to begin after Gonzalez fulfills his fifth-year option, effectively securing his position in the Patriots' secondary through the 2031 season.
