Christian Gonzalez likely to miss Patriots game against Raiders

The New England Patriots face significant defensive depth challenges heading into their Week 5 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Star cornerback Christian Gonzalez is unlikely to play due to a shoulder injury that caused him to miss the previous game against the Buffalo Bills. Gonzalez was a non-participant in all three practices this week.

The team's secondary is further depleted by a neck injury to Carlton Davis, who also missed all three practices. Other players on the injury report include Channing Canada with a hamstring issue, Charles Woods with a shoulder injury, and Karon Prunty with a hamstring injury.

With the top tier of the cornerback depth chart sidelined, the Patriots may need to rely on Marcus Jones or practice squad elevations such as Kindle Vildor and Al'Zillion Hamilton to manage the Raiders' offense.
