Christian Horner received £100m payout after Red Bull exit
Financial filings from Companies House have revealed the scale of Christian Horner's severance package following his dismissal from Red Bull Racing in July 2025. The former CEO and Team Principal received a total compensation package estimated at approximately £100.48 million. This includes £33.494 million from Red Bull Racing as compensation for loss of office and approximately £66.988 million from Red Bull Technology.
Following his departure, Max Verstappen noted that the atmosphere within the Red Bull team has become more relaxed. Verstappen also addressed rumors regarding his own future, stating he would only consider a move to Ferrari if it ensured continued competitive performance.
In related personnel news, McLaren CEO Zak Brown indicated that Gianpiero Lambiase, Verstappen's long-time race engineer, may join the Woking-based team as Chief Racing Officer as early as next year, despite an official timeline of no later than 2028. Additionally, Helmut Marko has publicly disputed Horner's claims regarding the team's historical recruitment of Verstappen, asserting that Horner had expressed doubts about the driver's readiness at the time.
