Christian Kukuk delayed at Aachen World Equestrian Championships

Olympic champion Christian Kukuk arrived late to the World Equestrian Championships in Aachen due to water damage at his home. After initially being left off the German team nomination, Kukuk was added as a reserve rider.

During the mandatory veterinary inspection on Monday, Kukuk was unable to attend personally, so his horse, Checker, was presented by groom Sofie Karlsson. German national coach Otto Becker confirmed the delay, noting that Kukuk would arrive later following the incident at his residence.

Kukuk remains a reserve and could officially join the active team up to two hours before the first round of competition on Wednesday if another rider withdraws. The German jumping team includes Marcus Ehning, Richard Vogel, Sophie Hinners, and Daniel Deußer.
