Christian leaders in Niger State call for unity and improved security

Religious leaders in Niger State, Nigeria, are emphasizing the importance of unity and enhanced security for places of worship. The Northern Christian Religious Assembly (NOCRELA) recently held an inauguration in Minna, where its National President, Archbishop John Praise Daniel, affirmed that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) remains the primary umbrella body for all Christian affiliations in the country. He stated that NOCRELA aims to complement rather than rival CAN, seeking to amplify the collective voice of Christians.

Simultaneously, the Niger State chapter of CAN has called for a stronger and more permanent security presence at worship centers. Most Rev. Bulus Yohanna, the CAN Chairman for Niger State, made this appeal following the abduction of Muslim worshippers from mosques in the Borgu Local Government Area. Yohanna described attacks on places of worship as threats to the wider community and urged for increased protection in rural areas, including the Borgu and Agwara Local Government Areas, to prevent further abductions.
