Christian Lundgaard faces grid penalty in Portland due to electrical failure
Arrow McLaren driver Christian Lundgaard will face a difficult race at the Grand Prix of Portland after experiencing significant electrical issues during qualifying. The problems occurred midway through the first qualifying session (Q1) when Lundgaard entered the pits for a tire change.
Lundgaard reported that his dashboard froze during the pit stop and his hybrid system subsequently failed to function. Without the hybrid unit's boost, he was unable to generate the necessary speed to remain competitive, leaving him at the bottom of the timing charts.
Lundgaard expressed disappointment, noting that the team had made promising overnight progress on car settings. He acknowledged that starting from the back of the grid will be a major challenge on the narrow 1.964-mile Portland International Raceway circuit.
