Christian Lundgaard secures second place at Washington IndyCar race
Christian Lundgaard secured second place at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, held on a temporary street circuit around the National Mall in Washington. Driving the number 7 Chevrolet for Arrow McLaren, the 25-year-old Dane climbed from ninth position on the starting grid to reach his sixth podium of the 2026 IndyCar season.
This result strengthens Lundgaard’s third-place standing in the championship with 443 points. He remains only 19 points behind race winner Kyle Kirkwood, who sits in second place with 462 points, heading into the final three races of the season. Alex Palou continues to lead the overall standings with a 91-point advantage over Kirkwood.
