Christian Mbilli and Canelo Alvarez set for October 31 fight
Christian Mbilli and Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez are set to face each other on October 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout follows Mbilli’s elevation to absolute champion after Terence Crawford’s retirement.
Mbilli, the 31-year-old WBC super middleweight champion, has asserted that he is entering his prime while Álvarez, 36, is in decline. Mbilli noted that while he would have accepted the fight five years ago, his current trajectory and physical condition provide a significant advantage.
Álvarez is preparing for a return to the ring following a defeat to Crawford, elbow surgery, and a period of inactivity. To counter Mbilli’s high-volume punching and stamina, Álvarez has focused his training on maintaining his own endurance and utilizing body punching to control the pace of the fight.
