Christian Nodal faces trademark dispute over ‘El Forajido’ name

Mexican singer Christian Nodal is facing legal complications in his attempt to officially register ‘El Forajido’ as a commercial brand through the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI). During the review process, IMPI identified three existing trademarks with similarities to the name Nodal requested for his musical career and commercial activities, such as concerts and live performances.

This dispute follows a previous opposition filed in June by Grupo Forajido, a musical group that claims the term ‘Forajido’ has been part of its artistic identity for over 30 years. Nodal must now respond within a designated period to demonstrate why his trademark application should be granted despite these existing similarities and prior oppositions.
