Christian Prokop transitions from handball coaching to teaching

Former German national handball coach Christian Prokop has transitioned from professional sports to teaching. At 47, Prokop is now working at a comprehensive school in Isernhagen, Lower Saxony, where he teaches sports, politics, and economics.

Prokop, who coached the German national team from 2017 to 2020 and most recently served as the coach for Bundesliga club TSV Hannover-Burgdorf until January, stated that he received several detailed offers to continue in professional handball. However, he chose the teaching profession to prioritize stability for his family, who have lived in the Hannover area for five years.

The move utilizes qualifications Prokop obtained years ago; he completed his teaching degree with a master's in Hildesheim in 2008 and finished his second state examination in Magdeburg. He described the new role as an exciting field for personal development.
