Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie face evolving roles in Serie A and USMNT

USMNT stars Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie are facing evolving roles both in Serie A and with the United States men’s national team. At the club level, both players have dealt with injury disruptions to their rhythm, but are expected to become more influential for AC Milan and Juventus as the season intensifies. Pulisic, currently under contract with Milan until June 2027, remains a key figure for his club despite discussions regarding his long-term future at San Siro.

On the international stage, Pulisic’s standing with the USMNT has shifted under manager Mauricio Pochettino. Despite being a leader during the early stages of Pochettino’s tenure, Pulisic was omitted from the recent international window featuring friendlies against Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Canada. Pochettino opted to utilize a younger roster, including several teenagers and debutants, following a period where Pulisic faced fitness concerns and a decision to skip the Gold Cup to prioritize recovery.
