Christian Rach to return to RTL as ‘Restauranttester’

Gastronomer Christian Rach is set to return to RTL in his former role as ‘Der Restauranttester’. Following a hiatus since 2017, new episodes of the coaching documentary are scheduled to air starting in spring 2027.

Filming for the series is slated to begin in September. Rach stated that his return is motivated by the current pressures facing the gastronomy industry, noting that many restaurants are vital to their local neighborhoods. His approach will involve listening, providing honest analysis, and helping businesses develop new perspectives to survive.

The original format, which ran from 2005 to 2017, earned several awards including the Golden Camera and the German Television Award. The new production will be handled by Filmpool Entertainment on behalf of RTL.
