Christian Streich draws record crowd to Homburg reading event

Former SC Freiburg coach Christian Streich drew nearly 600 attendees to the Waldstadion in Homburg for his program, ‘Die Bücher meines Lebens’ (The Books of My Life). The event, held as part of the HomBuch 2026 festival, set a new attendance record for the festival.

During the session, moderated by SR sport presenter Thomas Wollscheid, Streich discussed various stages of his life and career. He reflected on his time playing for FC Homburg between 1988 and 1990, including the club's promotion to the Bundesliga, as well as anecdotes from his long tenure as a manager at SC Freiburg and encounters with figures like Franz Beckenbauer.

A central theme of the evening was Streich's personal connection to literature. He shared insights into the books that have shaped his life, including references to Herman Melville’s ‘Moby-Dick’.
