Christian Tramitz reveals lifelong fear of clowns

German actor Christian Tramitz has revealed that he suffers from coulrophobia, a long-standing fear of clowns. The 71-year-old actor shared that his aversion dates back to childhood, noting that his mother recalled him running screaming from circuses when clowns appeared.

During the filming of new episodes for the crime series ‘Hubert ohne Staller’, Tramitz had to confront this phobia. After informing a writer about his condition, a plotline was developed where his character must go undercover at a clown school. Tramitz described the experience as partially traumatic and stated that the filming did not alleviate his fear, but rather intensified it.

The 13th season of the series, in which Tramitz has played police officer Franz Hubert for 15 years, is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, October 14, at 18:50 on ARD and in the ARD Mediathek.
