Christians observe All Souls’ Day in Bangladesh and globally
Christian communities in Bangladesh observed All Souls’ Day on November 2, gathering at cemeteries to honor deceased loved ones through prayer, flowers, and candlelight. In Dhaka, the Wari Christian Cemetery served as a central location where hundreds of people gathered to commemorate the departed. Similar observances were reported in other regions, including Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, and Mymensingh.
All Souls’ Day, a Catholic tradition dedicated to remembering the faithful departed, follows All Saints’ Day on November 1. While All Saints’ Day honors saints and martyrs, All Souls’ Day focuses on ordinary believers. The observance provides a space for families to revisit memories and care for gravesites, often bringing together various Christian denominations in shared remembrance.
