Christie’s to auction Bill Blass fashion collection and personal archives

Christie’s will host “Bill Blass: American Elegance,” a digital auction and exhibition celebrating the influential American fashion designer. The sale features 129 items, including vintage gowns, fashion sketches, and personal correspondence spanning Blass’s career.

Exhibitions will be held at Christie’s in Rockefeller Center from September 8 to 13, followed by a full show at the Bill Blass townhouse in New York from September 18 to 22. The digital auction is scheduled to run from September 9 through 23. Proceeds from the sale are expected to exceed $150,000 and will benefit the Bill Blass company.

Blass, known for defining 20th-century American style, dressed prominent figures such as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Nancy Reagan, and Brooke Astor. The collection of personal letters includes correspondence from notable industry figures including Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Vera Wang.
