Christina Block trial continues in Hamburg child abduction case
The trial of entrepreneur Christina Block regarding the alleged abduction of her two children has reached a scheduled hiatus. Block is accused of hiring an Israeli security firm to kidnap her 10-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter from their father's residence in Denmark and bring them to Germany following a bitter custody dispute.
During recent proceedings, Block maintained her innocence, describing the prosecution's assumptions as “absurd.” The case involves six other defendants, including her partner, former sports presenter Gerhard Delling, who faces charges of aiding and abetting. One 37-year-old Israeli defendant has admitted to the allegations.
Testimony has also highlighted personal tensions within the Block family. Christina Block provided statements regarding her relationship with her father, Eugen Block, founder of the Block House steakhouse chain, describing a strained dynamic characterized by his dominance. The court is expected to rule on several motions, including a challenge regarding the impartiality of presiding judge Isabel Hildebrandt, before the next hearing on September 21.
