Christina Block trial: Court plays voice message recorded before child abduction

During the trial at the Hamburg Regional Court regarding the abduction of her children, an old voice message from the accused, entrepreneur Christina Block, was played. The recording, made a few hours before the incident, features Block telling a friend that things were becoming "ever more hopeless" and that she had little hope left.

Block is accused of hiring an Israeli security firm to kidnap her two youngest children, aged 10 and 13, from their father Stephan Hensel's residence in southern Denmark during the night of December 31, 2023, and bringing them to Germany. The 53-year-old entrepreneur denies the prosecution's allegations.

There are six other defendants in the case. While five deny any wrongdoing, one Israeli individual has admitted involvement. Block's defense attorney, Ingo Bott, argued that the message, which expresses "despair, sadness, and resignation," demonstrates her lack of knowledge regarding any secret plan, suggesting it would be "unthinkable" to send such a message if she were involved in a conspiracy.
