Christina Block updates testimony in child abduction trial

During the 72nd and 73rd days of the trial in Hamburg, defendant Christina Block provided updated testimony regarding the alleged abduction of her two children. Block, an entrepreneur and heir to the ‘Block House’ steakhouse chain, is accused of hiring an Israeli security firm to kidnap her children from their father’s residence in Denmark during New Year's Eve 2023/24 following a prolonged custody battle.

Block corrected previous statements, claiming her memory had failed her on certain points. She maintained that she had no prior knowledge of the planned abduction but admitted that her initial contact with David Barkay, the alleged leader of the kidnappers, involved discussions regarding the children to obtain information for the custody dispute. She also addressed her interactions with an associate of Barkay, noting that she was unaware of the individual's background at the time and questioning whether she had been manipulated.

The trial involves seven defendants, though only one Israeli defendant has admitted to the charges. Block continues to assert her innocence.
