Christine Hunsicker sentenced to five years for CaaStle fraud
Christine Hunsicker, the founder and former CEO of the fashion-technology startup CaaStle, has been sentenced to five years in prison for a massive securities fraud scheme. U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken handed down the sentence following Hunsicker’s guilty plea to one count of securities fraud.
Between 2019 and 2025, Hunsicker defrauded investors of approximately $300 million by falsely claiming CaaStle was a billion-dollar success. Prosecutors stated she used forged documents, fabricated audits, and fictitious bank records to misrepresent the company’s revenue by as much as 70 times the actual figure. While she promoted the platform as a profitable solution for inventory management and a lifeline for independent designers, the company lacked a factual foundation.
In addition to her prison term, Hunsicker was sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution and forfeiture totaling $283,291,940. During the trial, the defense attempted to argue that a traumatic brain injury caused by a falling mirror contributed to her actions and erased her memory of the years the fraud occurred. The judge noted the injury was real and contributed to the situation, but Hunsicker was still ordered to begin her sentence in October.
