Christine Littlejohn assumes command of Nellis Air Force Base wing

Col. Christine Littlejohn has officially assumed command of the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis Air Force Base as of July 17. She is the first woman to lead the unit, which has been commanded by 16 male officers since its activation in October 1995.

The 99th Air Base Wing serves as the host wing for Nellis, providing essential installation support, security, and infrastructure management for more than 11,000 active service members. Littlejohn, who brings over two decades of military experience, emphasized her focus on teamwork, readiness, and the training of new officers to ensure the unit remains mission-ready.

Littlejohn noted that her leadership is shaped by a family legacy of military service spanning World War II, the Vietnam War, and conflicts in Bosnia and the global War on Terrorism. She expressed that her role carries a significant weight of responsibility to uphold the Constitution and support the base's operational continuity.
