Christine Villemin sues former journalist for defamation
Christine Villemin has filed a defamation lawsuit against former journalist Marie-France Lefèvre-Bezzina before the Paris Judicial Court. The legal action follows repeated accusations made by the 81-year-old journalist on a public Facebook group, where she alleged that Villemin was involved in the murder of her son, Grégory, in 1984.
Villemin is seeking 100,000 euros in damages to repair the harm done to her honor. Her legal counsel emphasized that the accusations are unfounded, noting that the judiciary has previously cleared her of any involvement. The defense in the case has invoked freedom of expression, framing the trial as a debate over the limits of speech regarding one of France’s most significant unresolved criminal cases.
The lawsuit aims to counter conspiracy theories circulating on digital platforms that attempt to revive theories already dismissed by the courts.
