Christmas in a Shoebox charity initiative launches across Europe
The international gift campaign ‘Christmas in a Shoebox’ is preparing for a new season of providing holiday gifts to children in need across more than 100 countries.
In Liechtenstein, the initiative sees significant local engagement, including collaboration with the Heilpädagogisches Zentrum (hpz) in Schaan, where individuals with disabilities create decorated boxes to be sold and filled with gifts. The campaign is supported by the Hereditary Princess, who serves as patron. Local organizers note that Liechtenstein's collection point is among the most successful in Europe relative to its population.
In Germany, the Marzahn-Hellersdorf Volunteer Agency is participating in the nationwide aid campaign organized by the Kinderzukunft foundation. A central collection point at Helene-Weigel-Platz will collect packages to be distributed to schools and social institutions in Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ukraine. The gifts, which include toys, clothing, and hygiene items, are intended for children and adolescents aged 6 to 18.
