Christmas markets across Italy prepare for 2026 season
Various regions in Italy are preparing for the 2026 Christmas market season, offering diverse cultural and artisanal experiences. In the Lazio and Abruzzo regions, celebrations range from the famous Piazza Navona market in Rome to the medieval settings of Viterbo and the nativity-focused traditions in Greccio. Other notable locations include L’Aquila, known for its wooden stalls and gastronomy, and Sulmona, which highlights local specialties like traditional confetti.
In Trento, the ‘Trento Città del Natale’ project will run from November 20, 2026, to January 6, 2027. Centered in Piazza Fiera and Piazza Mostra, the event features traditional wooden stalls, local craftsmanship, and alpine gastronomy set against the backdrop of the city's historic walls and the Buonconsiglio Castle.
