Christmas tree prices in Germany set to rise
Producers have announced a price increase for Christmas trees for the upcoming season. Nordmann firs, the most popular variety in Germany, are expected to cost between 25 and 33 euros per meter, up from the previous year's range of 23 to 30 euros.
Blue spruce and Norway spruce prices are also noted, ranging from 14 to 22 euros. According to Managing Director Saskia Blümel, the price hike is driven by rising production, personnel, and logistics costs, combined with a declining market supply.
The supply shortage is partly attributed to extreme summer droughts in Germany, particularly in the south, which caused significant damage to young plants. While mature trees for sale remained largely unaffected, the long-term impact of these droughts and farmers reducing their cultivation areas are expected to affect availability in the coming years.
