Christoph König re-elected as mayor of Kronberg

Christoph König, an SPD politician, has secured a second term as the mayor of Kronberg in the Taunus region. Running as an independent candidate, König received 62.8 percent of the vote, totaling 4,067 votes.

His opponent, CDU candidate Katharina Merklein, received 37.2 percent of the vote with 2,412 votes. The voter turnout for the election was approximately 47.5 percent.

Following the results, König expressed gratitude for the “overwhelming trust” shown by the voters and pledged to serve the city with full commitment over the next six years. He noted that the upcoming period will present significant financial challenges and requires broad consensus on key issues such as housing construction and climate policy.
