Christoph Krenn announces immediate retirement from professional skiing

Austrian alpine skier Christoph Krenn has announced his immediate retirement from professional skiing at the age of 32. The decision follows a severe injury sustained during a Europacup Super-G in Verbier, Switzerland, on March 8, 2024.

Krenn suffered a broken tibial head, torn cruciate and collateral ligaments, and complex nerve damage in his leg. Despite undergoing intensive rehabilitation, the athlete stated that a return to World Cup competition is no longer medically advisable. In an emotional social media statement, Krenn noted that while his recovery is progressing well, the injury has redefined his physical limits and his perspective on both sport and life.
